Our Farm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Cheesemaker to join our team in Somerset. We are looking for someone to work alongside our dedicated and enthusiastic team who make our internationally renowned, award winning cheese.

We are a mixed farm with two dairy herds of Friesian and Jersey cows who are milked twice per day and calve all year round. The milk produced is used to make our farmhouse cheddar and Ogleshield cheese here on the farm, in a traditional farmhouse dairy.

Your role

As assistant cheesemaker, you will be part of a small team, responsible for assisting in the day to day production of both cheddar and Ogleshield with the opportunity to grow and develop new dairy products within the business.

Alongside making the cheese, responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning and hygiene
• Care of the cheese from milk to maturation
• Preparing orders
• Record keeping

Working hours for this position are 40 per week which will include weekends and bank holidays with the opportunity to work overtime. The job will require early starts which may vary depending on the daily tasks.

About You

Cheese making experience is not essential as full training will be given to the successful candidate. A food hygiene certificate would be preferred but not required.

A high attention to detail and positive work ethic is a must for this role. Heavy lifting is part of the job, so you will need to be physically fit and capable with a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.

North Cadbury is a small village offering the local amenities of a primary school, shop and public house. It is close to the A303 with the nearby towns of Castle Cary and Yeovil easily accessible.
