Full Job Description

Portsmouth Hospitals Ophthalmology department are looking to recruit a Medical Records Assistant to support both our outpatient department and our Eye Day Case Unit here at Queen Alexandra.

Ophthalmology is one of the largest outpatient departments in the Trust and provides eye health care to patients for a range of conditions including corneal disorders, diabetic eye disease, paediatric strabismus as well as having a dedicated Emergency Eye Clinic open 6 days a week.

The service has recently been appointed new leadership, making now an exciting time to join the team and help to build a well skilled, flexible workforce, within a department that values the training and development of its staff.

This role is pivotal in the successful running of the department. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive and must be able to effectively manage their own workload.

The role is based within our patient file area and requires medical records to be prepared ahead of clinical appointments in a timely manner.

This role is physically demanding and will require someone who can utilise knowledge and understanding of manual handling techniques to ensure notes are safely moved across the department. In house training will of course be provided to support this.

No previous experience of this role is required.
